French official industrial production stable

French industrial production was stable in October after suffering a 2.1-percent drop in September, the INSEE statistics institute said on Friday.

In the August-October period, industrial production fell 0.6 percent in comparison with output in the three preceding months, INSEE said in a statement.

Manufacturing production, excluding mining and construction, was stable in October.

October saw production rise in the transportation industry by 1.9 percent, including a 2.5 percent rise in automobile production.

Production fell in industries including lumber, paper and printing, down 3.5 percent, in chemicals, down 2.2 percent, and in textiles and leather products, down 2.2 percent.
