French monthly current account deficit narrows

PARIS, April 19 (AFP) - The French current account deficit narrowed in February to EUR 590 million (USD 767.2 million), seasonally adjusted data from the finance ministry showed Tuesday.

PARIS, April 19 (AFP) - The French current account deficit narrowed in February to EUR 590 million (USD 767.2 million), seasonally adjusted data from the finance ministry showed Tuesday.

The current account, a broad measure of payment inflows and outflows, stood at a revised EUR 2.237 billion in January.

On an unadjusted basis, the current account for the first two months of 2005 showed a deficit of EUR 2.17 billion, compared with a surplus of EUR 2.11 billion in the same period last year.

The current account measures trade in goods and services as well as certain financial transfers and direct investment.
