Struggling Greece will not go bankrupt and will remain in the eurozone, visiting French European Affairs Minister Jean Leonetti said on Thursday, stressing that Europe will overcome the current debt crisis.

"Greece will not go bankrupt and Greece will not leave the eurozone," Leonetti told AFP.

"The European Union will as always come out of this serious crisis strengthened and it will overcome a decisive stage," he said.

Leonetti arrived earlier Thursday on a visit to Croatia which is set to become EU's newest member in mid-2013.

Greece is trapped in a deepening recession and is struggling to escape default on its massive debt of some 350 billion euros.
