French jobseekers jump 0.8 percent in November
The number of French jobseekers jumped 0.8 percent to 2.7 million in November, and was up 2.0 percent over the year, the labour ministry said Friday.
The number rises to slightly over four million people if those who had found some part-time work but were still looking for a permanent job are included, an increase of 0.8 percent over the month and five percent from November 2009.
France's economy is set to grow by 1.6 percent this year, but the National Institute of Statistics and Economics Studies (INSEE) expects a slowdown in 2011 although the government is forecasting growth to accelerate to 2.0 percent.
In its latest forecasts published in November, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development pencilled in 1.6 percent growth for France in 2011.
