French industrial orders weaken: official data

French industrial orders fell 1.2 percent in May after showing a 0.7 percent gain the previous month, the national statistics institute INSEE reported on Tuesday.

From March to May orders, excluding the transportation sector, declined 1.3 percent from the previous three months.

Foreign orders in the March-May period were stable, INSEE said.

Orders to the automobile sector declined 15.4 percent from March to May while those for electronics goods fell 3.9 percent.
