French household spending rises

PARIS, Dec 21 (AFP) - French household spending on manufactured products increased 1.5 percent in November from October and 6.5 percent compared with November last year, the statistics institute INSEE reported Tuesday.

PARIS, Dec 21 (AFP) - French household spending on manufactured products increased 1.5 percent in November from October and 6.5 percent compared with November last year, the statistics institute INSEE reported Tuesday.

Retail spending excluding automobiles, tires, spare parts and medical products was up 0.5 percent from October and 5.7 percent compared with November 2003.

Spending on durable goods, including automobiles, rose 3.7 percent last month after a decline of 0.6 percent in October, according to INSEE.

It said spending in the automobile sector shot up 7.4 percent in November from October and 14.1 percent on the year.
