NANCY, France, Oct 19 (AFP) - A French couple who failed to stop a drunken dinner guest driving home and causing a fatal road accident were cleared of all criminal charges Tuesday.

In the first ever trial of its kind in France, Angelique and Jean-Sebastian Fraisse, 29 and 31, were accused earlier this month of "deliberate failure to stop a crime against a person".

In February 2000 Frederic Colin left their home in a drunken state and killed four members of a family as well as himself in a crash on a motorway in northeastern France.

Speaking after the verdict, Angelique said she was "happy and relieved ... I no longer need to feel guilty. Justice has shown that I was not responsible."
