Leading signals from the French economy slowed markedly in May to show the lowest rate of growth for 10 months, a survey of purchasing managers showed on Monday.

The composite Purchasing Managers Index compiled by marketing consultants Markit fell to 60.5 points, with a score above 50 indicating growth.

The index slid from 62.4 points in April, a 10 and a half year high level, as growth in manufacturing slowed, Markit said.

Growth in services was steady, Markit in its first estimate of their widely watched survey of purchasing managers.
