The Bank of France forecast on Tuesday that the French economy would expand by 0.6 percent in the fourth quarter of 2010, short of the figure required to meet the annual growth target of 1.6 percent.

The French economy needs to expand by 0.7 percent in the fourth quarter to meet its target of 1.6 percent growth for 2010

Expansion of 0.6 percent matched a previous forecast last month, the Bank said in a statement.

The French government is looking critically towards robust growth to help it meet its target for public deficit reduction.
