French freelance journalist wounded in Libya: AFP

A French freelance journalist was seriously wounded on Saturday during fighting in the Libyan city of Sirte, an AFP correspondent reported.

Olivier Sarbil, a Bangkok-based videographer who was in Sirte with his wife was struck by shrapnel, said the reporter who had no further details of the incident.

Preparations were underway to move him to the city of Misrata, to the west.

There was fierce fighting on Saturday in Sirte, the hometown of fugitive Moamer Kadhafi, as forces of the new interim government sought to wrest control of it from supporters of the fugitive former Libyan leader.
