French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe will head to China this weekend following a visit to India, diplomatic sources said, as France prepares to host a summit of G20 leaders early next month.

The sources said Juppe would arrive in China on Saturday following a two-day visit to India.

The China trip was not originally scheduled to follow the India visit but was added at the request of President Nicolas Sarkozy, Le Figaro newspaper reported, quoting sources in the presidency.

Current G20 chair France is to host leaders from the bloc on November 3 and 4 in the southern city of Cannes.
