French fighter jets make emergency landing in Malta
Two French Mirage fighter jets believed to be involved in operations against Libya were forced to make emergency landings in Malta Wednesday after running out of fuel, civil aviation sources said.
The jets asked for permission to land on the Mediterranean island at around 2:30 pm (1230 GMT) and then requested refuelling, the sources told AFP.
France is one of the most active participants in a NATO-led international coalition taking part in combat operations against Libya following the approval of a UN Security Council resolution to defend civilians in Libya.
