French father kills children, self: prosecutor
A French father killed his two children with a hunting rifle Monday before shooting himself, the prosecutor's office in the northeastern city of Metz said.
Michel Borhoven, 45, was not married to the mother of the 12- and 14-year-old boys but according to her brother he would not accept that his partner had sought a separation.
The woman's brother, Patrick Messin, said Borhoven first killed the older boy in the woman's apartment at Ars-sur-Moselle before shooting the younger one on the landing where he had fled.
Borhoven, who was employed by a car plant, then returned to the apartment and killed himself.
The mother who found the three bodies when she returned home was in shock and hospitalised.
Earlier in the day she had told her partner, who reportedly was undergoing treatment for psychological issues, that she would not go back on her decision to break up. The couple had split almost two years ago.
"He never accepted the separation," said Messin, "but he never made any death threats either."
