PARIS, July 28 (AFP) - The French electronics group Thomson said Thursday it had reached an agreement to acquire PRN Corporation of the United States, which specializes in television advertising in retail stores, for around USD 285 million (EUR 235 million).

The transaction is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter this year, subject to regulatory approvals, Thomson said in a statement.

"This acquisition is a new step in Thomson's development in the management of video networks for a variety of clients -- television chains, movie houses and from now on retail outlets," Thomson said.

PRN is a privately owned manager of in-store television networks in over 6,000 retail locations.

PRN, based in San Francisco, will be integrated with the activities of Thomson's Network Operations Services unit.
