Paris court ruled that Gaz de France should supply further information about its planned merger with peer Suez

PARIS, January 22, 2008  - A Paris court ruled Tuesday that Gaz de France
should supply further information about its planned merger with peer Suez so
that is works council can express an opinion on the deal.
The ruling could delay again the tie-up between the two huge energy
utilities.
After some two years and long-deadlocked negotiations, Suez and GDF planned
to merge early this year to form the world's fourth biggest energy utility by
market capitalisation.
The works council at GDF has gone to court on several occasions to ask for
more information on the deal, causing delays.
GDF said it would press ahead with its legal action "with the aim of
merging in the first quarter of 2008" as planned.
