French consular official, family hurt in Gaza air raid
A French consular official in Gaza told AFP on Monday that he and his daughter were injured and his pregnant wife lost her baby in an overnight Israeli air raid.
Majdi Shakoura, 44, head of France's consular affairs in the Strip, said flying glass cut his left leg and also lightly injured his wife Majida, 42, and one of his daughters, aged 13.
"My wife, two months pregnant, lost her baby," he told AFP.
Shakoura, who holds French and Palestinian citizenship, said the windows of their home west of Gaza City were shattered when Israeli aircraft destroyed a nearby Hamas naval police base.
The Israeli action, launched after a rocket attack into Israel from Gaza, killed one Palestinian on Sunday night and wounded six others, among them two policemen, Gaza emergency services spokesman Adham Abu Selmiya said.
