French aid for tsunami victims hits EUR 100m

PARIS, Jan 4 (AFP) - Aid from France for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster was expected to pass the EUR 100 million mark with ease, taking into account donations from all sources, according to an AFP tally.

PARIS, Jan 4 (AFP) - Aid from France for victims of the Indian Ocean tsunami disaster was expected to pass the EUR 100 million mark with ease, taking into account donations from all sources, according to an AFP tally.

The prime minister's office announced during the day that state, business and individual donations had reached close to EUR 95 million (USD 126 million) in all.

In addition, aid given by local authorities, including cities and regional governments, was expected to account for several million euros in additional funds.
