French Navy's flagship to be operational off Libya Tuesday
Combat jets aboard France's Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier will be able to begin sorties over Libya from Tuesday, the French general staff said Monday.
The carrier, the French Navy's flagship, set off from the southern naval port of Toulon Sunday with 2,000 sailors and about 15 jets aboard.
"The carrier picked up its air assets yesterday and will be able to conduct its first air missions over Libya as early as Tuesday," said Colonel Thierry Burkhard, the general staff spokesman.
