French Navy flagship sets off for Libya operation
The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle set off from the southern port of Toulon on Sunday to take part in military operations in Libya, an AFP journalist said.
Tugs pulled the French Navy's flagship from the wharf at about 1:10 pm (1210 GMT) as dozens of onlookers watched it depart.
"The aircraft carrier is 24 hours by sea from the Libyan coast but will take 36 to 48 hours to get there, to take the time to load on the fighter jets that will participate in the operations and to hold some landing exercises," a military source said.
