MONTREAL, May 21 (AFP) - France will decorate 32 Canadian D-Day veterans with the French Legion of Honour for their participation 60 years ago in the allied landing at Normandy, the French Embassy in Ottawa said Friday.

French Ambassador Philippe Guelluy will award the honour to many of them at a ceremony at the embassy next Thursday, it said in a statement.

Several Canadian veterans will travel to France for the 60th D-Day anniversary.

Of the more than 14,000 Canadians who landed on Juno Beach on June 6, 1944, 359 were killed the same day. Canada lost 40,000 troops in World War II.
