A French-Algerian journalist was found strangled to death in a hotel in Sanaa, Yemeni police said on Monday.

The man was strangled by electric wires in a modest hotel in the Yemeni capital, a police official told AFP, adding that the murder took place "three or four days ago."

A press accreditation from the Yemeni ministry of information found on the dead man suggested that he worked for the French news channel France 24.

The French channel, however, told AFP that it does not have at the moment a journalist on a mission in Yemen.
