Franco-US defence group names new chiefs

PARIS, Jan 10 (AFP) - The Franco-US defence group ThalesRaytheonSystems said Monday that Michel Mathieu had been named chief executive officer, replacing Terry Heil who would become chairman of the company.

PARIS, Jan 10 (AFP) - The Franco-US defence group ThalesRaytheonSystems said Monday that Michel Mathieu had been named chief executive officer, replacing Terry Heil who would become chairman of the company.

Mathieu graduated from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Telecommunications in France and has a doctorate in computer science, the group said in a statement.

Heil earned his master's of science degree and doctorate in mathematics from the University of Arizona in Tucson.

ThalesRaytheonSystems is a joint venture between Raytheon Company and Thales Group that produces air defence command and control centres and ground-based battlefield radars.

The company's annual revenue is close to USD 700 million (EUR 535 million), and it employs almost 2000 people, the statement said.
