France's Alstom signs 300-mln-euro Taiwan electric deal
French engineering giant Alstom said Wednesday it had signed a 300-million-euro (422 million dollar) contract to operate and maintain Taiwan's Hai-Fu combined cycle gas turbine power station.
The 15-year contract extension was signed with private Taiwanese power supplier Ever Power IPP (EPIC), Alstom said in a statement.
Hai-Fu was built in 1996 and can produce 980 megawatts of electricity thanks to its KA24 turbines, supplied by Alstom, which has technicians based at the plant to ensure their smooth running and maintenance.
The turbines allow the power plant to run during the daytime and be switched off at night when demand is low.
