France will dismantle 'all illegal' camps: Sarkozy
French President Nicolas Sarkozy said at an EU summit clouded by a row over the expulsion of Roma Gypsies Thursday that France would continue to dismantle "all illegal camps."
He also said at a news conference that France was "profoundly" hurt at parallels drawn between current Roma expulsions and World War II.
European Commission justice chief Viviane Reding this week suggested that returning Roma Gypsies to Bulgaria and Romania provided shades of World War II deportations.
She also threatened to drag Paris before the European Court of Justice for its harsh line on Roma Gypsies.
"These words were profoundly hurtful," Sarkozy said. "My duty as head of state was to defend France."
