France warns nationals to leave Egypt
France urged its nationals in Egypt to immediately quit the country where violent clashes have erupted after days of anti-government protests, a government spokesman said Thursday.
"If there is no urgency or pressing obligation to stay on Egyptian territory, you should leave as soon as possible," Budget Minister Francois Baroin said on France Info radio.
Seven people were reported killed in the past 24 hours in Cairo in clashes between anti-government protestors and pro-regime elements. Medics said the protestors were targeted by gunfire.
"The start of a civil war is taking shape," Baroin said, warning any French nationals who do stay to avoid the street disturbances and exercise extreme caution.
