PARIS - France is to send a third planeload of aid to help earthquake victims in China, the foreign ministry said Monday.
The aircraft left France Monday night carrying 33 tonnes of humanitarian equipment, following a shipment of 80 tonnes earlier this month and another at the weekend, foreign ministry spokeswoman Pascale Andreani said.
A 13-member team of French firefighters and emergency workers, carrying four tonnes of aid including a mobile medical unit, arrived Sunday in Sichuan province, Andreani said.
She said the team started work Monday in a hospital in the town of Guangyuan.
The death toll from China's devastating Mai 12 earthquake rose to 65,080 on Monday, with another 23,150 people missing, a government spokesman said.
At least eight people were killed and 927 injured in an aftershock that hit southwestern China on Sunday.
