Prime Minister announced future cuts in gas' standard tariff

ANNEYRON - French Prime Minister Francois Fillon on Friday said gas rates would be lowered by "around 10 percent" for the general public from April 1, following a 15.2-percent hike last year.

Consumer groups have criticised the delay in lowering tariffs for the general public after a decline in world energy prices and a 20-percent rate cut in January made by French gas firm GDF Suez for its industrial customers.
