MANTES-LA-JOLIE, France, July 31, 2006 (AFP) - French economic growth in the second quarter will be at the top end of the official 2-2.5 percent rolling forecast for 2006, Finance Minister Thierry Breton said Monday.

MANTES-LA-JOLIE, France, July 31, 2006 (AFP) - French economic growth in the second quarter will be at the top end of the official 2-2.5 percent rolling forecast for 2006, Finance Minister Thierry Breton said Monday.

"It (growth) will be good, we have said so for some time. The figures we have show that we are clearly in the range of 2-2.5 percent. Rather at the high end of the range as far as the second quarter is concerned," Breton told reporters.

He spoke during Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin's monthly press conference, which was held in this suburb west of Paris.
