France says no plans for military action on hostages
France has no plans for military action to free seven nuclear workers, five of them French, abducted from Niger last week by the north African branch of al-Qaeda, the country's top commander said Friday.
"Military intervention is not, at the moment I am speaking to you, the order of the day," Admiral Edouard Guillaud told Europe 1 radio.
He also said France was ready to make contact at any time with the abductors.
