France says it supports Russia WTO entry this year
France is pushing for Russia to join the World Trade Organization by the end of the year, French Prime Minister Francois Fillon said during a visit by his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
"On European questions, I've reiterated my support for Russia to join the WTO before the end of 2011," Francois Fillon said at a joint press conference.
Moscow has long complained that it had to negotiate longer than any other country and said the process is unnecessarily politicised by some states.
Russian President Dimitry Medvedev said on Friday that Russia could join the trade organisation by the end of the year, but that his country would refuse any "clearly disadvantageous" conditions.
