France ranked world's fourth biggest arms exporter
France has retained its spot as the world's fourth largest arms exporter, with Brazil its top client, a defence ministry report said Wednesday.
France counted arms orders worth 8.16 billion euros (11.3 billion dollars) in 2009, up from 6.5 billion euros in 2008, it said.
French arms exports last year accounted for 7.2 percent of the global weapons trade, behind the United States with 52 percent, Britain's 13.4 percent and Russia's 8.4 percent but ahead of Israel with 5.3 percent.
The main customers for French weapons were Brazil, Saudi Arabia, India, Greece and the United Arab Emirates, the report said.
