France probes Paris female suicide bomber report
French anti-terror investigators are probing a report that a female suicide bomber may be preparing to strike in Paris, a judicial official said Monday.
Prosecutors opened the probe to "verify the credibility" of a report to the DCRI domestic intelligence agency, the source said.
Separately, a source close to the interior ministry confirmed police were probing reports of a female suicide bomber, but added: "That's not necessarily the most worrying thing."
Officials said Monday that France was at immediate risk of a major terror attack by Islamist radicals and had further reinforced already urgent security measures since last week.
Asked about reports that an attack might be imminent, Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux said: "The threat is real, we have stepped up our vigilance."
