France planning for action after UN resolution: minister
France's foreign minister signalled Thursday that military strikes could quickly follow UN Security Council approval, telling reporters "France is ready" to carry out any resolution.
"The first step is the adoption of the resolution and then we will see that with our partners and we are preparing the following decisions," Alain Juppe told reporters two hours before a scheduled Security Council vote.
Asked whether France would take part in air strikes, he replied: "France is ready, along with others, to put in action the Security Council resolution, including in this field."
"Taking into account the urgency on the ground, it goes without saying that it must be applied quickly," the minister added.
Juppe said that France was in contact with Britain and Arab nations. "You must understand, I cannot say more at this stage," he said.
