France condemns Kabul attack

France on Saturday strongly condemned the attack on NATO's military headquarters in Kabul, which killed seven Afghans, and reaffirmed its commitment to contribute towards stabilising Afghanistan.

Paris - France on Saturday strongly condemned the attack on NATO's military headquarters in Kabul, which killed seven Afghans, and reaffirmed its commitment to contribute towards stabilising Afghanistan.

"France condemns in the strongest possible terms today's attack in Kabul near the headquarters of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the foreign ministry said in a communique.

"It conveys to the population and Afghan authorities its support and determination to remain committed alongside them to contributing towards the stabilisation and reconstruction of Afghanistan," the statement said, adding that Parish "hoped the Afghan people will be able to express themselves in a free and democratic manner" in the imminent elections.

Responsibility for the attack was claimed by the Taliban.

France has around 2,900 men in Afghanistan serving in the international coalition
