France business confidence improves in June
French business confidence improved in June, France's national research institute (INSEE) announced on Wednesday.
The business climate index, based on a survey of business leader sentiment, rose to 109 points in June from 106 points in May bringing it back to its April level.
The index remains above the long-term average of 100 points.
Manufacturers reported a boost in recent activity and said that orders were accumulating, including those for export.
Inventories of finished products increased moderately during the period, manufacturers reported.
Business managers interviewed in the survey thought economic activity would be sustained for the coming months, both for their own business and for the economy at large.
The view was shared in most sectors, including food, power, textile and chemicals.
The auto sector was an exception with managers reporting their industry had slowed in recent months. However, managers predicted a pickup in activity in the near future.
