PARIS, Sept 13 (AFP) - France has boosted its anti-terrorist police division by adding four detectives tasked with tracking down financial sources used by radical groups, officials said Monday.

The reinforcements will examine the money links between activities such as counterfeiting or drug trafficking and how they might be used to finance terrorist operations, the officials said.

Interior Minister Dominique de Villepin last week told France's security services to concentrate on cutting cash flow to terrorist and organised crime groups, especially those coming from the narcotics trade.

He noted that the March 11 train bombings in Madrid attributed to Islamic extremists appeared to have been financed by the sale of cannabis.
