France agrees to extradite Italian to US on drugs charges
A French court gave its approval Wednesday for the extradition of an Italian to the United States to stand trial for allegedly supplying cocaine to a former top official in South Carolina.
Pasquale Pellicoro now has five days to appeal the decision by the court in the eastern city of Besancon, his lawyer Alain Dreyfus-Schmidt said, adding that he would encourage his client to appeal.
Pellicoro is wanted by the FBI for allegedly being one of several people who supplied illegal drugs to South Carolina former state treasurer Thomas Ravenel between 2005 and 2007.
The Italian was arrested by French police in October and later released on bail.
