France Telecom said Thursday its third quarter sales were up 1.1 percent to 11.6 billion euros (15.9 billion dollars) allowing it to maintain its plan to payout dividends of 1.4 euros per share.

The results were in line with the consensus view of analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires who forecast 11.4 billion euros. But the performance was down 0.6 percent on the previous corresponding period on a comparable basis excluding exchange rate effects and other variables.

Earning (EBIDTA) were down 2.3 percent to 4.260 billion euros, but still above market expectations of 4.16 billion, the company said.

The group noted that its client base had expanded and passed a global figure of 200 million for the first time.

"These results allow us to confirm our overall financial objectives," notably paying out a dividend of 1.4 euros per share in 2010, 2011 and 2012, the company said.
