France, Norway firms share Venezuelan gas deal

CARACAS, Jan 17 (AFP) - French oil giant Total has reached an agreement with Norway's Statoil to share a license to exploit Venezuela's offshore natural gas deposits, Total said Monday.

CARACAS, Jan 17 (AFP) - French oil giant Total has reached an agreement with Norway's Statoil to share a license to exploit Venezuela's offshore natural gas deposits, Total said Monday.

The agreement must be approved by Venezuela's energy ministry, Total said.

The European companies are seeking a 49-percent stake in an exploration license to extract natural gas in the Caribbean sea.
