France and China are going to work together to consider an overhaul of the global monetary system within the Group of 20, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said Wednesday.

Sarkozy made the comment in a joint appearance before the media with Chinese President Hu Jintao after the two leaders met in Beijing.

Sarkozy said the two countries would consider a "new multipolar monetary order," as France prepares to preside over the G20 from November.
