CANNES, France, May 16, 2007 (AFP) - It's all big at the world's biggest film festival -- or simply excessive.

CANNES, France, May 16, 2007 (AFP) - It's all big at the world's biggest film festival -- or simply excessive.

Following are a few facts:

Eating: At the Hotel Majestic, one of the palaces frequented by the stars, and the closest to the film festival, diners during the 12-day event are expected to guzzle down two tonnes of lobster, three tonnes of fish, 300 kilos of foie gras, 50 kilos of caviar and 250 kilos of chocolate.

Drinking: At the same hotel, lovers of good French champagne and wines are expected to down 15,000 bottles of champagne and 8,500 of grand cru wine.

Looking: The city authorities have laid out 25,000 potted plants along the celebrated seaside Croisette boulevard of Cannes. The luxury Hotel Carlton orders 150 fresh bouquets of flowers each day.

Cleaning: The Hotel Carlton washes three tonnes of dirty linen a day and provides 25,000 bars of soap during the festival. The Majestic's dry-cleaning service picks up 10,000 evening dresses and suits a day.
