Euro Disney cuts losses
Euro Disney said Wednesday it had cut losses by 28 percent for the year to 39.9 million euros (54.8 million dollars) thanks in part to increased spending by visitors to its Paris theme park.
Overall sales rose 3.7 percent to 1.27 billion dollars for the year ending September while income from tourists was stable at 1.26 billion euros, the company said in a statement.
During the period, the number of visitors to the leisure park dropped 2.6 percent to 15 million while hotel occupancy rates fell 1.9 percentage points to 85.4 percent.
However average spending per tourist rose 2.4 percent to 45.30 euros while spending per hotel room per day rose to 209.78 euros, up 4.2 percent.
The company said that it had targetted increased spending per visitor in the 2009/2010 period while the emphasis was on volume in the previous corresponding period.
