PARIS, Jan 6 (AFP) - The Paris ready-to-wear salon to be held here next month will for the first time put the emphasis on fair trade and ethical design, organisers said.

"Not everyone understands the words ethical, organic or fair trade," one of the organisers, Hervé Huchet, told reporters on Thursday, revealing that some 30 fair trade designers will take their place alongside more than 1,050 exhibitors from some 50 countries.

The aim of the ethical fashion platform is to "motivate buyers and exhibitors to delve into" the subject, he added.

The non-governmental organisation Yamana which lobbies for sustainable development and aims to educate textile companies and buyers on the social and environmental impact of their products will also be present during the salon from February 2-5.

Round table discussions will also be held on new consumer tendencies and the future of the distribution of ethical fashion goods.
