POITIERS, France, June 22 (AFP) - At least 11 people were killed Tuesday and six others seriously injured when a Moroccan-registered bus crashed on a motorway in western France, local authorities said.

Thirty-three people were slightly injured in the accident, which occurred near the town of Liguge, just south of Poitiers, said Karen Teillard-Mege, a spokeswoman for the Vienne administrative region.

She said the bus was en route from Brussels to Morocco with 50 passengers.

The bus crashed through the security barrier that separates the four-lane highway and flipped over, an AFP reporter said.

One survivor said the bus had stopped in Paris and that there were three drivers on board.
