Earthquake close to Franco-Spanish border

STRASBOURG, France, Sept 17 (AFP) - An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit a region in Spain's Basque country, close to the border with France, the Strasbourg seismological laboratory said, but there were no reports of damage or casualties from the region.

STRASBOURG, France, Sept 17 (AFP) - An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale hit a region in Spain's Basque country, close to the border with France, the Strasbourg seismological laboratory said, but there were no reports of damage or casualties from the region.  

The quake occurred at 9:17 pm (1917 GMT) on Thursday with an epicentre at a latitude of 42.92 degrees north and a longitude of 1.45 degrees west, the laboratory said.  

That located it to the east of the main Spanish Basque city of San Sebastian.
