BERLIN, March 22 (AFP) - European Union leaders will discuss ways of further clamping down on terrorism funding at their Brussels summit this week, French Economy Minister Francis Mer said Monday.

"The issue of financial cooperation to combat the funding of terrorism will be on the agenda," he said in Berlin after talks with German Finance Minister Hans Eichel.

"We of course share similar views on this," Mer added, referring to France and Germany.

Eichel suggested "other countries" should "examine their stance" but declined to explain what he meant.

EU leaders agreed to place terrorism on the agenda of their summit Thursday and Friday, in the wake of the March 11 Madrid train bombings that killed 202 people.
