BRUSSELS, Sept 27 (AFP) - The European Commission plans to fine French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroën for anti-competitive distribution practices in The Netherlands, a source close to the dossier told AFP on Tuesday.

The commission, the EU's executive arm, is scheduled to adopt that course of action at its next weekly meeting in Brussels on October 5, the source said on condition of anonymity.

The EU spokesman on competition matters, Jonathan Todd, declined to comment.

However he said that the commission had opened an investigation into the distribution practices of the company, which is the second-biggest European automaker, but he did not mention any country.

In recent years, Brussels has taken action against a number of car manufacturers it believes were acting against the spirit of competition.
