EDF, Enel eye joint nuclear projects in France, Europe

MILAN, Feb 23 (AFP) - Enel and Electricite de France are to study projects of joint interest in France and the rest of Europe, including cooperation on nuclear power, an Enel spokesman said Wednesday.

MILAN, Feb 23 (AFP) - Enel and Electricite de France are to study projects of joint interest in France and the rest of Europe, including cooperation on nuclear power, an Enel spokesman said Wednesday.

The spokesman was reading from a joint statement issued by Enel chief executive Paolo Scaroni and EDF CEO Pierre Gadonneix after the two met in Rome.

"Gadonneix and Scaroni have defined an agenda to study projects of joint interest in France and the rest of Europe, including cooperation on nuclear," the spokesman said.

The spokesman said he could not supply any further details on specific projects nor a timetable for the cooperation.

Enel has been reported to be interested in gaining French market access, including via a possible stake in Snet, as well as cooperating with EDF on the next generation of nuclear reactors.
