BERLIN, Nov 30 (AFP) - The German co-chief executive of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, Rainer Hertrich, denounced Tuesday reported plans by Airbus CEO Noel Forgeard and French President Jacques Chirac to put a Frenchman in sole charge of the company.

"In France, (former economy minister Nicolas) Sarkozy and Chirac are competing to see who is the better political man in terms of industrial policy," Hertrich said in an interview to appear in Thursday's edition of WirtschaftsWoche and made available late Tuesday.

"EADS should not be a springboard for personal ambitions," he said. According to press reports, the French government wants to put Forgeard, the CEO of EADS's unit Airbus, in sole charge of EADS, in place of the current co-head structure under Frenchman Philippe Camus and Hertrich.

"I cannot comprehend that Noel Forgeard... has such little regard for the international image of our group," said Hertrich.
