DiCaprio, Scorsese receive top French awards

PARIS, Jan 5 (AFP) - France on Wednesday honoured Hollywood director Martin Scorsese of "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" fame with its top distinction, the Legion of Honour, while superstar Leonardo DiCaprio received a leading French arts award.

PARIS, Jan 5 (AFP) - France on Wednesday honoured Hollywood director Martin Scorsese of "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull" fame with its top distinction, the Legion of Honour, while superstar Leonardo DiCaprio received a leading French arts award.

French Culture Minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres presented the veteran moviemaker with the insignia of Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour, and DiCaprio with the insignia of Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters.

Scorsese's latest movie "Aviator," a biopic of legendary tycoon Howard Hughes starring DiCaprio as the eccentric millionaire, will be released in France on January 26.
